New puppies born at Cotonnerie on July 23 to Symphonie and Loup de Mer. One girl is on the left and the other four are boys.

Seven (7) puppies unecessarily died in American Airlines cargo flying from Tulsa to Chicago in the heat of the summer.
This is a good reason why you should never consider flying your pets in cargo, especially in the times of year weather and temperatures can be extreme.
If your pet cannot fit under the seat in front of you in an airline cabin, please read the story below before making your decision to fly your pet in cargo.

Billie and Lola have puppies and seem to share them with each other. They shared the papa of the litters too so it's one big happy family in Longmont. There are three (3) beautiful girls available so if you're interested, please contact Terri.

I am appealing to all of you coton lovers out there to help find a home for these 3 boys.

First, there is Antonio. He will have his 8th birthday July 24, 2010.
Then, there is Gucci. He is a love ball.
And last, there is Noah, a bolognese. He is very loveable.
All three dogs were shaved down in December, but their coats are growing back. THey will be neutered, have teeth cleaned and a medical checkup.
As I said before, their breeder can no longer take care of them.

I am very shy. Have had my summer cut so look like a lion... especial my tail. I am 6 years 2 months old... but look like a puppy. I don't have my collar on because I'd been to visit my 96 year old great grandfather and had on my harness. What a Mistake! When we got home from our trip my human family had been robbed. They took our money and all of my mother's fine jewelry. They left the costume jewelry. Our house is a mess. Our whole family was upset... Mom throwing up and Dad mad. My two year old human was acting crazy cause she didn't know why everyone was so upset and our baby wanted fed. I was scared and confused. The next morning mom and dad left the doors open while they went thru things and put things away... I went out. But alas the side gate was open and they didn't know it. I've never been out on my own ... without my family. Now I am lost with no name and no tags. I do have a harness. I am scared and shy. My humans think I was picked up right in or near my yard as I'd never run before. They are crazy with grief. If you see me ... please call the hot line or Companion Animal Recovery. 1 800-252- 7894. This will be night two of the missing Coton search. we have made flyers... put posters up at the pet stores ..the schools and been in touch with the local animal shelters. Please remind our coton lovers and friends ... Never take off the identification tags!!! My kids are devastated and self blaming.

It is official, the DNA test for Neonatal Cerebellar Ataxia for Coton de Tulear is now available.
This is wonderful news since this is a serious fatal disease. Fortunately it is not common in Cotons and now that we have a DNA test, we could conceivably eliminate it from the breed entirely.

Keep in mind as you're viewing this program that the Coton is a "rare breed". If they do not remain a "rare breed" and become recognized by the AKC you WILL see many many more Cotons living under the brutal conditions of puppy mills because more and more people will profit from their breeding the Coton.

Good news! They have located the DNA marker in Coton for Banderas Syndrome. More information will be coming soon. Please read below:

It has taken a while, but if you keep walking you get there eventually. We have found the mutation responsible for Bandera’s syndrome in Coton de Tulears. It is quite an interesting gene that explains a lot about why we see the signs we do in the Bandera’s pups. We will be offering a DNA test for the mutation shortly so breeders can identify carriers of the trait and avoid any Bandera’s pups in the future. My colleague, Dr. Gary Johnson, is the one who does the real work on these studies and he will be getting in contact with you to let you know the details about testing.
